Van Meter Elementary's Monster's Ball, Los Gatos, CA

It's Halloween again, and for the 3rd year in a row I spent an evening dancing with all the kids in costume at Van Meter Elementary's Monster's Ball. They even made me a sign!! Check it out!

Erika and her team made sure the Multi-Purpose Room was filled with lights, decorations, and even a dancing skeleton projected onto the big screen.

I provided my usual dancelights, scattered a few of my uplights around the room synced to the music, and of course the laser display.

I've said it many times before, but a lot of times kids can make the best kind of energy for a dance party. They were going non-stop for almost 3 hours straight. I did my best with the requests (I must have played "Shake it off" about 6 times), and as with all of my kids events, I kept the music CLEAN.

The highlight of the night for me was when Daft Punk AND Deadmau5 stepped up to the turntables. I just jumped out into the crowd to dance with everyone else. By the end of the night we even got the parents on dancefloor!

Definitely one of my favorite events to spin for, yet another memorable Van Meter event :)

Glen and Bianca, Hollins House, Scotts Valley, CA

September 27, 2014

It's a well known fact in Santa Cruz that the best months of summer are September and October. 2014 was no exception, and even though it was raining hard in Santa Cruz the Friday before their wedding. Glen and Bianca were unfazed, and had one of the most beautiful, cinematic weddings I've ever seen.

The wedding was held at the classic Hollins House at the Pasatiempo Golf Club in Scotts Valley. Both Glen and Bianca are musicians, so music was very important for their wedding day. Possibly my favorite part was that Glen had recorded an original song for Bianca to walk down the aisle to, it was a very sweet moment and it will never be duplicated! His cousins played a live cover of Jon Foreman's "Your Love is Strong" as the couple took communion.

I moved the sound from the ceremony area to the dinner and reception area. Dinner and toasts were done with a beautiful view of the Santa Cruz sunset and the ocean as a background. But once the sun was down we got inside and got to dancing!

During our pre-wedding meetings, Glen and Bianca had specifically told some of their guests that if they were going to RSVP, they better plan on dancing. The dance time had hardly started and the place was jumping with people on the floor.

Even after the couple had made their exit, there were still people wanting to dance. I ended up obliging them as long as I could until it was time for the staff to clean up. Such a beautiful wedding, and such an amazing celebration!

Thanks Glen and Bianca and congratulations!
