Having Holidays midweek is awesome, and this year Christmas and New Year's landed on Thursday. This made not one but two lengthy four day weekends (for some, not all!). I was lucky enough to be chosen to DJ in San Francisco to celebrate Amy's big 3-0. A birthday and New Years means double the party!

The Party was held in the skylight room at Firehouse 8, an old historical firehouse that is now a popup and event space right in the middle of San Francisco. Amy and her girls Ariane and Carrie were there decorating the room with noisemakers, balloons, hats, and all sorts of shiny/glittery stuff :) Teresa was the Firehouse 8 contact for this event, she made sure I had all I needed for the evening, AND she was even there to help clean up at 2am afterwards.

The skylight room had ample space for Amy's guests to drink and socialize, but I found it was better to keep things compact as to differentiate my side of the room as the dance floor. Amy told me her friends knew how to get down when the music was right, and she was not kidding!

The best part of the night HAD to be when Amy got her dad on the dancefloor for an impromptu Hava Nagila dance. Jewish or not, everyone linked up and got down with the Hebrew!

As the time approached we got ready for the countdown. Since Amy's actual birthday is January 1st, we doubled up the celebration at midnight. Amy's friend Ariane set-up a surprise slideshow of friends and family near and far singing and wishing her a happy birthday. It moved Amy to tears, she was beyond touched.

New Year's events can be challenging since the night can stretch on and the party energy can fizzle out at times. This was NOT the case for these guys, it didn't matter if it was Biggie, Beyonce, Baauer, or Benny Benassi, they just KEPT DANCING! I loved it!

This was definitely the way I wanted to start off the New Year... a fun event with great people. A big thanks to Carrie and Ariane who kept things organized and beautiful, and thank you Amy for giving me the honor of DJing your 30th :)

Happy New Year!

Coin Inc. Holiday Party, Clift Hotel, San Francisco, CA

Nothing like Christmas in the city, and there's nothing like Christmas in The City!

Saturday night's event brought me out to Clift San Francisco on the corner of Geary and Taylor. A great venue in the heart of The City, with wonderful views from the Spanish Suite Terrace on the 16th floor!

Coin is a company dedicated to simplify life as we know it, starting with our wallets. In addition to their revolutionary ideas, they are also a very fun, eclectic bunch to party with!

Dinner was in the Spanish Suite from 7 to 9, there were speeches, raffle and wonderful food served. It was a bit of a tricky space but I managed to chain a third speaker from the terrace into the dining room for some mellow beats to eat to.

Wasn't long after that it was time to dance! The dancefloor on the terrace filled up pretty quick as folks not only got sweet tunes, but a sweet view as well!

Photobooth xpressions was there to make sure that folks got a souvenir to remember the night by. Check them out here: Photobooth Xpressions
I even took a second to get in there as well, I'm not one to miss out on a photobooth opportunity!

Big thanks to Shalina from Coin, and all the people that danced and made the night fun. And also to Devin Singer and her staff at Clift SF that made sure I was taken care of knew right where to go. The night was great... went off without a hitch!

What a weekend!

Bella Vista League Holiday Event, Los Gatos, CA

The rest were taken by me (I'm a lousy photographer!)

Friday Night I got to head up to the hills above Los Gatos to DJ for the Bella Vista League (AKA Wonderful Witchy Women with a Cause WWW). A very effective group of women that raise money for a variety of local charities. Their event was held at a wonderful estate overlooking the Southern Bay Area and beyond.

This is my second time DJing for WWW, and I was happy to see familiar faces and new faces alike. It was a LARGE property, but the dance area was fairly small so I kept my set-up compact.

They have been movers and shakers in the community for 9 years, and this event was to celebrate yet another successful year of helping those in need!

We've had some gnarly storms the last few days, but fortunately it stayed dry for the night. Still, it was very cold, so I tucked myself into a corner so the guests could dance under the awning. I even improvised some lighting in the small space! There were plenty of area heaters and eventually everyone got warmed up.

And they danced.... and danced... and danced!

We went much later than we had originally planned, but they definitely did not show signs of slowing. I kept the music going per their request until midnight. What a FUN group, they even tuckered me out! But still I can't wait until their next event!

Bay Plumbing Supply Holiday Party, Santa Cruz Moose Lodge, CA

Yay for Holiday Parties! For this event I got to "Think Local First" and DJ for Bay Plumbing Supply's Holiday Bash at the Santa Cruz Moose Lodge.

It was a small group of about 60 people, but they had energy to spare! I did a basic speaker set-up with a few strategically placed lights. Along with the house lights it was enough to fill the dancefloor, and give the folks room to explore the space. Dinner was hardly served and they were already itching to dance.

The crowd favorite for the night was definitely Mark Ronson and Bruno Mar's "Uptown Funk". It's got a classic sound that appeals to all ages, good choice guys!

The event was from 6-11pm, and one would think that they would get tired eventually right? No way. These guys danced for hours straight, and Ray from the Moose lodge kept the drinks coming as to keep everyone hydrated and replenished!

It's always a pleasure to DJ in my hometown, Santa Cruz people are some of the best people to do business with. Now I've got another local spot to stop by and see local faces, and you can check out their Plumbing Supply showroom here: Bay Plumbing Supply

Sotheby's Annual Holiday Party, Blackhawk Automotive Museum, CA

It's ramping up to be a very busy December, and Holiday parties are happening everywhere!
Wednesday night I had the opportunity to DJ for a branch of Sotheby's Realty in Danville, CA. They held their party at the jaw-dropping Blackhawk Automotive Museum.
I'll let the pictures do the talking!

There was roughly 150-200 people in attendance, with a bar and seating for dinner right in the middle of the main showroom.

Not only was the whole room decorated in icicle lights and festive holiday flair, but there were classic cars from all parts of the world. Guests were able to walk the exhibits and admire the classics!

After dinner folks were ready to dance, and we were all treated to some very talented tango dancers in the group. I personally don't have the coordination to tango, but I was super impressed! It's always a treat to see the different types of music people prefer, and soon people were all getting involved.

It was a wonderful night, and quite a treat to DJ at such an epic venue. I hope that everyone at Sotheby's enjoyed themselves, and a big thank you to the staff at Blackhawk Automotive Museum for being our hosts!
